The Royal Docks Community School looked after me yesterday - and they did a great job. I spent the morning with the Year Sevens and Eights discussing story structure and they read me some of their writing. That was a treat for me - I was really impressed!
So a big thank you to the staff and students there - especially Miss Busuttil.
Today is not looking so good. My eye has swollen up. I mean, REALLY swollen. Last night it was slightly bulging, but hardly remarkable. This morning I cannot open it. I am operating out of my left eye only. I look like I've done a few rounds in the ring. As far as I can remember, I haven't been in any fights or done any boxing, but the evidence suggests that in my sleep I entered a World Heavyweight bout and got smacked in the right eye.
I only hope that, in my sleep, I remembered to negotiate an enormous purse.

Imagine an inflated pig's bladder stapled beneath a man's eyebrow. Add gummy tears and a look of despair. That's me.
