It was great to meet everyone from the book group that came out to meet me last night at the library in Huddersfield. Lovely too to see the wonderful Children's Bookshop there.
Today I've been up the road in Wakefield meeting Years 5 and 6 from a whole bunch of schools, in including one that I was sure was called Hovercraft. Turns out it was Havercroft.
There were some amazing story ideas going on today. Over three different sessions, Jimmy Coates battled demon seagulls, robots that were also vampires, the almight cheese-mother and the incredible king of rubbers, who erased Jimmy's brother and tried to take over his mind.
It was epic.
I'm looking forward to the next couple of days. Tomorrow I'll be at Crofton High School for some more workshops and talks, then it's Ackworth School on Thursday.
It's also Enterprise Week. Did you know that? So I'll be talking quite a bit about the business and enterprise side of writing. Which means, in other words: how to make MONEY.
We all like that, don't we? I'll be revealing my amazing money-making secrets to everybody. They include: drawing eyes on pistachio nut shells and selling them as mice.
It's a solid investment.
It's great doing this little trip in Yorkshire - a break from all the writing I've been doing. I finally managed to get Jimmy Coates: Blackout to my editor on Sunday night, so now I've got a bit of a break before I start plotting out Jimmy Coates: 8.
And the title is still top secret.
