Students in France have been sitting their 'Bac' exams, and it's always impressed me that Philosophy is taught so widely over there. In fact, I just found out that a Philosophy paper is compulsory for about 80% of the Bac students.
In UK schools Philosopy has only cropped up fairly recently; I still think it should be available to more students - and younger students. With that in mind, here are some of the questions from the French exam this year. Supposedly they get easier as you go down the list (and thanks to La Savmeister for sending these over, by the way):
-- Can perception train itself?
-- Is scientific knowledge of a living thing possible?
-- Does art transform our consciousness of reality?
-- Can a truth be established by means other than demonstration ?
-- Can you experience desire without suffering?
-- Is it easier to know someone else than oneself ?
-- Can you love a work of art without understanding it?
-- Is it the business of the law to decide on my happiness?

Oh, one last thing - I was so excited about Lamont Dozier's birthday (see below) that I almost forgot to mention one of the few other songwriters even worthy of a mention in the same breath as Mr Dozier. So...

To be a philosopher you need to know that you don't know. I think. So no, you're not a philosopher. But you just passed your Bac. Congratulations. You must now move to France.
