Paul Newman

I've just heard that Paul Newman died last night.

Very sad.

He was the best. A truly class act, even if it were only for his films. But on top of that he gave over $250 million to charity. Incredible.

A few of my favourites, in no particular order:
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
The Hustler
The Colour of Money
Cool Hand Luke
Hud
The Sting
Cars
Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid (obviously)
The Prize (not such a great film, but he's very funny in it)
Slapshot (also surprisingly funny)
The Verdict
The Hudsucker Proxy
Twilight

Has anybody else ever been so consistently good over so many years, in so many great films?

He's also brilliant in Road to Perdition - a different league to anything else on the screen.

And here's an interesting article about his driving.

What a legend.
