What's In A Name?

Thanks to everyone who got in touch about the auction for the right to have a character named after you in my next book. And an even bigger thank you to everybody who put in a bid.

The auction was today, and I'm sure you'll all want to know how things turned out. Well...

When the online portion of the auction closed, the bidding had reached £510, which I was delighted with. But then this afternoon the proper silent auction was held in the Great Hall of my old school.

And my 'Jimmy Coates' lot finally went for a whopping £2500, split between two enthusaistic bidders, who have agreed to pay £1250 each so that they can both have their names in the next book.

I'll announce the names as soon as I've confirmed them with the winning bidders.

Then I'll start thinking about the characters I have to create for them...
