My Face, Your Radio

LBC was the first radio station I ever listened to, and for a long long time it was the only station I ever listened to. Every school night from when I was about 13 it entertained me as I dropped off to sleep, and when I got ready every morning. Now I'm going to be on it.

If you'd like to find out what my voice sounds like, and perhaps even hear what I have to say, then check out the half-hour interview that's going to be on air very early in the morning today or tomorrow (probably around 4am).

I've just been at the LBC studios to record a little chinwag with the excellent Adrian Allen. (Check out his blog here.) Apart from a dodgy moment early on when I stumbled into the studios of Heart FM by mistake, before Adrian came to rescue me, I think it all went pretty well. I put on my poshest voice and tried to avoid sounding like an idiot. You can judge for yourself whether I succeeded, or whether I would have been better off hiding out in the Heart FM studio and lying in ambush for Jamie Theakston. (Though I reckon Theakston would fight back. He may be scrawny, but he's got height.)

Anyway, I'll see you on the airwaves. Or whatever it is they say in Radio-Land. (I should know really - some of you might remember that a few years ago I co-hosted my own show on Cambridge University Radio. Bootleg recordings from my three year stint crop up on ebay every now and again...)

Bogoff Man's blog says you were on the phone, but listening to the interview via the podcast (subscription required) it is clear you were in the studio.

A good listen.

Oddly, I heard your interview completely by accident. I had woken up at the ungodly hour of 3:23 (i looked at the clock) and switched on my usual cure for insomnia: LBC. Lo and behold, some 37 minutes later, I hear you. Needless to say I did not fall asleep again until afterwards. In the morning I wasn't sure whether or not I had dreamt it.

Hi Melissa!
That's very funny. Makes me wonder who else was listening and whether they know if it was real or not...
