Looks like it's the time of year for the birthdays of great musicians. Just a couple of days after Ray Charles, it's Happy Birthday to George Gershwin, (even though he died in 1937, aged 38).
I can recommend the excellent www.gershwin.com if you want to find out more about George and his brother, Ira. But to be honest, there's only one way to really find out about the Gershwins - listen to the songs.
You can't really beat Ella Fitzgerald singing the Gershwin songbook, but if you're in the mood for a movie, there won't be a better day to watch 'Shall We Dance' until next year.
