Happy Birthday Chico Marx!
He's the one who, for some reason, pretended to be Italian. I never questioned it. It's comedy - anything goes. And it means he can get away with some outrageous puns ('You can't fool me - there ain't no sanity clause').
My two favourite Chico scenes: in Duck Soup, when he and Harpo torment the rival street vendor and do all that switching of hats; in Monkey Business, when Chico and Groucho sneak into the Captain's quarters and steal his lunch.
Ever since I saw that I've wanted to try it myself. But I don't find myself on a boat that often.
By the way, it's also Reese Witherspoon's birthday today. Thought that was worth a mention.
